The true mealy Amazon must have some yellow feathers on either the front or the crown or both. The plain-colored has a mauve or grayish blue series of feathers on the crown. The blue-crowned has cobalt blue or bright blue feathering on the crown. As the name implies, the green-headed has bright dark green feathers on the entire head.
